Oats Pongal

DESCRIPTION: Oats Pongal is a healthy and delicious recipe which can be cooked and served within 30 minutes .It can be served as a breakfast, lunch, and dinner. 


INGREDIENTS :

Oats-1 cup

Yellow Moong Dal-1/4 cup

Water-2 cups                                  

                   

 Ingredients  for  TEMPERING:

Cumin Seeds-1tbsp

Peppercorns-1tsp

Hing-1/2tsp

Ghee-1tbsp

Ginger-1/2 inch

Green chilies-1

Few cashews and Curry leaves

INSTRUCTIONS:  Here is the video for this recipe 

1.Add Moong dal to a bowl and rinse it thoroughly with water.

2.Heat a pan and add rinsed dal to it.

3.Dry roast moong dal till they are separated.

4.Pour required amount of water and pressure cook dal for 2 whistles.

5.Mean while crush peppercorns coarsely.

6.Heat a pan and add ghee .Let the ghee melt and add all the ingredients for Tempering one after the other. Transfer all the fried ingredients into a bowl.

7.Dry roast oats in the same pan for 1-2 minutes. After roasting add 2 cups of water to oats and cook them till they become soft and all the water is absorbed .At this time add salt to taste.

8.Then add cooked dal to the soften oats and give a quick mix. Add the tempering to dal and oats  mixture.

9.Oats Pongal is ready . Serve it with hot sambar!!
